Lenoir Preserve was created from two neighboring manors totaling 40 acres.  The more southerly of the two original manor houses had survived; on the northern property, the original house had burned down and the foundations had been removed. Some of the retaining walls still existed, and the carriage house and its driveway of sugar maples were still there.

Lenoir Preserve is now a place for passive recreation, nature walks, and environmental education.  Its new design is a reinvention of the 19th-century Hudson River landscape.  We preserved the wooded slopes that separated the upland areas from Warburton Avenue, and preserved the east-west path connecting to the Croton Aqueduct.  We created a new long, meadow and preserved the surrounding uplands as informal meadows.  The long meadow has views up and down the river and across to the great rock formation of the Palisades Interstate Park.  The restored carriage house is used as an education center and a place to demonstrate how maple syrup is made.
