Hofstra is the largest private university on Long Island. It is located on a 244 acre campus and has a student enrollment of 10,000 undergraduate and post-graduate students. Our major projects include:
J. C. Adams Playhouse: The Playhouse, an 1,100 seat, proscenium-style theater, is the premier cultural venue on campus. It is used extensively by the University and surrounding community for performances and other events. Work included new finishes for the lobby and theatre, new acoustical treatments and new lighting.
David S. Mack Fitness Center: The original Recreation Center was an undersized and antiquated facility. A new glass pavilion replaced the original small lobby with a double-height entry and lounge, improving the Center’s visibility on campus. The building’s original opaque walls were replaced with metal and glass partitions resulting in an open, transparent interior, promoting synergy between program spaces. The indoor track was redesigned to weave through these program spaces to facilitate interaction. A new 7,000 sf addition contains four barrel-vaulted spaces for yoga, dance, spinning and weights. The corridors are punctuated by skylights and feature built-in LED displays.
Additional projects include interior renovation of the Mack Student Center and the Hofstra University Club.

The J. C. Adams Playhouse is an 1,100 seat, proscenium-style theater. It is the premier cultural venue on campus, and is used extensively by the University and surrounding community for music, dance, and theatrical performances. According to the University, the space is also rented out for local, national, and international productions, conferences, performing arts companies, lectures, school events, and church groups.
Work included new finishes for the lobby and theatre, new acoustical treatments and new lighting.

The Recreation Center at Hofstra University was an undersized, dreary place. Through expansion and comprehensive renovation, it has been transformed into a vibrant, state-of-the-art fitness destination for the entire college community.
A new glass pavilion replaces the original small lobby with a double-height entry and lounge; it also improves the Center's visibility on campus. The building's original opaque walls have been replaced with metal and glass partitions resulting in an open, transparent interior, promoting synergy between program spaces. The indoor track has been redesigned to weave through these program spaces to facilitate interaction. The University chose not to pursue LEED certification, but was committed to making the project sustainable. This was achieved by reusing the existing building, recycling all construction waste, and using regionally-available, natural materials. The building has exterior louvers and retractable sun shades which control solar gain while providing all occupied spaces with natural light.
