Riverview Manor House & Gardens

Riverview Manor House & Gardens

As an overall composition of landscape and building, the Riverview Manor House addresses the same two settings as the Flower House: the first is the streetscape with common setbacks and common architectural traditions; the second is the steep, west slope of the Hudson River Valley and the views to the river and Palisades. To adapt to this setting, the building steps down the hill and embraces a stone terrace on one level and a grass terrace below it. In a modest way, the building responds to the challenge of creating a villa — a combination of interconnected interior and exterior rooms, which relate to a broader landscape.

Riverview Manor House & Gardens
Hastings-on-Hudson, NY

Riverview Manor was a subdivision developed between 1900 and 1929 on the west-facing slopes of former estates in the villages of Hastings-on-Hudson and Dobbs Ferry. The Riverview Manor House, an Arts and Crafts-style residence, was first constructed in 1910. It is the southern neighbor of the Flower House.

We demolished most of the original building; only a small interior portion of the original  footprint was preserved. The house is essentially new inside and out.  Its motifs and details reflect its Arts and Crafts roots.
