TREVOR DAY SCHOOL

Honors and Awards

  • 2016 AIA Westchester/Hudson Valley High Honor Award

The spaces within the tower were designed to maximize interior transparency and visibility, creating strong internal synergy.  The top floor of the building features a glass-walled practice gym and an outdoor play space on the roof overlooking the city.

The building’s 85 foot-high masonry base respects and reinforces the public nature of the street.  An interconnected, multi-story lobby welcomes students, staff, and visitors and leads them to the School’s most communal spaces—the competition gymnasium and fitness center, a 400-seat auditorium, the cafeteria and the library. A gleaming glass tower, rising 125 feet above the masonry base, houses the academic and collaborative spaces that reflect the vision and mission of Trevor Day.  Classrooms are clustered around common study areas where students and staff meet and mingle informally throughout the day.  The tower is outwardly transparent, with spectacular views of Manhattan to the north and south throughout the school.

The new Trevor Day School is a vertical, urban campus on the upper east side of Manhattan.  The 110,000 sf building is situated on a 100 ft x 100 ft mid-block site on East 95th Street, and accommodates 600 to 700 students in grades 6 through 12.
