Multiple Projects
Three bond referenda were passed for the Mt. Pleasant Schools over twenty years. Two of the key projects completed for the school district included:
-
Hawthorne Elementary School: This double-loaded corridor building was constructed in the 1930s with a 1950s addition that followed the same pattern. We designed a new kindergarten and first-grade wing parallel to the original building. The single-loaded corridor addition creates a new communal courtyard and completes the circulation pattern around the building.
-
Columbus Elementary School: This double-loaded corridor building was constructed in the 1950s and expanded in the 1970's into a T-shape. We designed a new L-shaped addition with a spacious library and rooms for music instruction and rehearsal. As with Hawthorne, the addition is attached to the original building and the 1970's wing, creating a new courtyard and a coherent circulation pattern.
