We completed a $17 million bond for infrastructure improvements and space alterations to the District's seven school facilities. The most significant project was the transformation of Fox Lane Middle School, originally designed in 1964 by the Architects Collaborative.
The middle school had three separate academic houses, each with its own cafeteria/common room. There was a separate building, central to the campus, for administration, art, music, and library, and a separate building for athletics. Since the campus was sited on a rocky, wooded hillside, there was no ADA access to or within any of the buildings.

The main objective for the project was to increase the capacity of the school from 700 to 1,080 students without building a new academic house. This was accomplished by converting the cafeterias and common rooms in each house into additional classrooms. A common library and cafeteria building was constructed to promote more interaction among the students. The placement of this new building at the north side of the campus created courtyard used for passive recreation and outdoor learning.
The 33 acre campus has been completely reinvented. All of the buildings are connected by enclosed walkways and bridges, providing ADA access to all buildings at all levels, and creating gateways into the new courtyard.
