Project Information
Rye Country Day has always been deeply committed to arts education. Over the past ten years, it has strengthened that commitment through the completion of the following projects:
-
Pinkham Hall: A new wing for the Upper School features Memorial Hall, a multipurpose black box-style theatre with terraced seating for 125. The space has shutters which can be opened for lectures and meetings, or closed for recitals, performances, and films.
-
Performing Arts Center: The original 400-seat auditorium was transformed into a 450 seat proscenium-style theatre with improved sightlines, enhanced acoustics, and better lighting. All of the interior finishes were replaced. A new two-story entry lobby was constructed on the north side of the building to serve as an art gallery and gathering space.
-
Cohen Center for the Creative Arts: A new 23,000-sq-ft. facility was constructed to house Rye's Middle and Upper School visual arts, theatre arts, manual arts, and STEAM programs. It features an experimental black-box-style theatre with 160 seats. A glass enclosed lobby serves as the Center's art gallery.
