FONSECA CENTER at THE MASTERS SCHOOL

The Fonseca Center for Athletics and Arts is the school's community center.  This new 78,000 sf interdisciplinary building is organized to foster interaction between students with diverse interests, by maximizing transparency to provide visibility throughout the building.

Arts spaces include an experimental theatre, a choral room, a band rehearsal room, photography and graphic arts studios and an art gallery. There is a café, lounges on two floors, and places for serendipitous gathering throughout the building.

The Fonseca Center was sited next to Strayer Hall which housed the original gym, fitness room, and lockers on the first floor, and music classrooms and rehearsal spaces on the upper floor.  A covered walkway between Fonseca and Strayer creates an outdoor link between these two buildings, and defines the edge of a new campus quadrangle.
